IMPROVING THE LIVES OF

PETS & PEOPLE

IN THE STL METRO EAST

Since 1986, Metro East Humane Society has been creating second chances and building a better future for animals and the people who love them in our community.

From providing safe shelter, veterinary care and new beginnings for homeless pets to affordable spay/neuter and vaccine services, humane education, community cat programs and pet food assistance, our work reaches far beyond our shelter walls. Through adoption, advocacy and preventative initiatives, we’re building a stronger community where pets have second chances and people have the resources and support to care for them.

VACCINE & MICROCHIP CLINICS

Affordable preventative care helps pets stay healthy and protected. Our community clinics offer low-cost vaccines, microchips and other essential services for dogs and cats.

LOW-COST SPAY & NEUTER

Quality veterinary care should be within reach. MEHS provides affordable spay and neuter services for community-owned dogs and cats.

FREE PET FOOD PANTRY

A tough month shouldn’t mean having to choose between feeding yourself and feeding your pet. Our pantry provides pet food assistance to families who need a little support.

I FOUND A STRAY PET. CAN YOU HELP?

If you’ve found a stray pet, contact the animal control agency for the area where the pet was found. They are the appropriate first point of contact for stray intake and can help give lost pets the best chance of being reunited with their families.

SURRENDER A PET

Sometimes circumstances change, and keeping a pet is no longer possible. MEHS accepts owner surrender requests as space and resources allow, and our team is here to help you understand your options and next steps.
