About The Event
Some souls are unforgettable. Roxy was one of them.
Rescued in April 2024 from a local abandoned, condemned house, she came to MEHS weighing just 30 pounds. She staggered into our care a shadow of the dog she was meant to be. She had survived unimaginable neglect, yet somehow, she still had love to give. She was fragile, but she was a fighter.
And fight she did — though her time as an MEHS pet was short, it was profound. We placed her in a foster home on a careful re-feeding plan, and over time, she regained weight. The light came back to her eyes, and although Roxy struggled with her mobility (diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, a nonreversible condition) her foster adopted her without hesitation and made her the center of her world.
